A special moment I enjoyed with my family...

Yesterday was a very special day for my parents. It was their marriage anniversary! To celebrate such an important day my dad took a day off from work. We all thought what we could do to make the day more special. In the end we all decided we would go to my parent's favourite restaurant for dinner. After that we would do other stuff.
That day I also had a cricket match so right after finishing the match I had to rush home( anyway in that match Victoria School was victorious). Right after I reached home I realised that everyone had already left so I took a quick shower and dressed up nicely before locking up the house and rushing to Causeway Point shopping centre. After I reached there, I found everyone waiting for me at the restaurant. I told them about our team's victory and they were extremely proud of me. Along with my family was my aunt's family. The food there was finger licking good.We all ate so much that later we could not even move. After a long time we all got up. Then we started shopping( I hated that). My dad bought my mother a very nice vase.
Within 1 hour we were back home. There we all cut the cake and took photos. We bought a mango cake and it was awesome! I think I had about half of the cake myself. Soon people started to go home and I think I went to bed at around midnight. It was really a special day!

A moment spent alone doing something I enjoyed...

What would a person do when he or she is alone at home? Some would study while others will have fun and play. Well, I was in that situation today. My parents were at a hospital to visit some people while my sister was at her university. After school ended today, I quickly rushed home to find my parents not at home. They told me they would only come back at night. That was when all the thoughts came to my mind of what I could do in that time...
I quickly finished my homework and started revising on biology. Then I studied mathematics( i had a test the next day). After finishing all the studying, the fun time started! First i called my friends, Kang Hao and Zong Han if they were free and if they would like to play basketball with me( we normally play together). They were eager to play too and we met at the basketball court beside my house. We played that for about an hour and went home.
Then I wondered what I could do. I felt really hungry so I quickly ordered Canadian Pizza for a pizza( finished the whole one myself :D). While watching the movie I watched a TV series I really liked. It was 24. It's action-packed with suspense and a lot of twists. Each episode is about 1 hour. I think I watched like 2 episodes.
My parents came back soon and all the fun was over. I loved the whole day. I had so much fun! I hope I get more of this kind of day.

A problem I encountered...

One of the problems I encountered in secondary 1 was when I was having my swimming lessons. As you all know, in Victoria School we all have to know how to swim. You would at least need to pass the bronze test. Those who knew how to swim but did not have any certificate would just take a school swimming test. But those who did'nt know how to swim would have to sign up for a swimming course and then they would take the bronze test. I did not have a certificate but I knew how to swim. I wanted a formal swimming certificate so i signed up for the course( I also wanted to show off to the people in that course that I knew how to swim well).
During that period I was always loeaded with homework. On top of that I had cricket competition. So I had to juggle these things together. On the first lesson of the swimming course, I found out a lot of people were doing the same thing that I had done( take the course even though we knew how to swim). So our instructor seperated us. Those who knew how to swim would be in a group while those who did not know how to swim would be in another group. I was of course in the first group. The first thing our instructor told us to do was swim 25 laps! We all were dumbfounded. One of the boys asked, " Sir, is that possible?" We all started to laugh. After we finished that we were all out of breath. Our instructor told us that every week we would be increasing the number of laps. After hearing that our minds were conquered by fear.
Soon my competition started so I had to miss some of the swimming lessons. Even when I was not in the swimming lesson, I would be thinking of swimming. Sometimes I would get a nightmare about swimming. Once I dreamt that I was drowning. On top of that I had loads of homework. I was really depressed. I could not concentrate on anything. So I made a serious decision. I would quit the swimming lesson and just take the school test. After that I had time for homework and my CCA.

First Time in Singapore...

I still remember the first time i came to Singapore. I was so happy. I wondered what Singapore would look like. Would it be a huge country? Or a place where only chinese live? Would the things there be very expensive? On the whole way in the plane I was asking myself these q uestions. After a long time I couldn't hold these questions any longer. I quickly asked my dad, " What type of country is Singapore?" Then he said, "Well to start off, Singapore is a very small country. Here, people of different races live together in harmony. It is not a country where only the rich live. Every type of person lives here." Then I started imagining what Singapore would look like...
I still remember, when I first came to Singapore I thought we only came here for holiday. But later my parents told me that we had moved here permanently. That's when i started crying. I started missing all the people I left behind in Bangladesh. But my parents told me that here we would be starting a new journey.
At first since we did not have anywhere to stay, we stayed in my fathers' friend's house( also bangladeshi). They lived in a condominium. There were also other bangladeshis living there. Soon we also bought a house there. We all became good friends there and had loads of fun. Some of the friends i made there are Shabab, Sakif and Alvi. We always got into trouble with the guard in the condominium.
One of the things that i did'nt understand when i first came to Singapore is singlish. Once I asked my friends what "lah" and all the other singlish words were. They said it is a slang which a lot of Singaporeans used. At first i did not know how to use singlish but soon i got a hang of it and now you can call me professional.
Some of the people i missed the most in Bangladesh were my cousins. So after about 1 year they came to Singapore to visit us and look at the wonders of Singapore. I was trilled when they came. They were in Singapore for 1 whole month. So it was enough time for us to have fun and also enough time for me to show them the whole Singapore. They even celebrated my birthday here. But when they were going to leave i was really sad. But now they too have moved to Singapore. They live right next to me now!
Although Singapore is a very small country, I have spent a lot of special moments in this country. I hope i can do something for Singapore!

Malaysia Trip

This November, I went to Kuala Lumpur with my cricket team. Along with us were also the hockey and the soccer team. We all went there to play some matches and have some team bonding. Well, this trip was very special for me as this was the first time i went overseas with only my friends. I was eagerly waiting for this trip as i knew we were going to have a great time there. The night before the trip, i kept on wondering what we would do when we reach Malaysia.
On the day we were going to leave, we all were waiting in school for the bus to arrive. When the bus finally came, we all shouted, " WOOHOOOHOOO!" The time taken for the bus to reach Kuala Lumpur was about 6 to 7 hours. In that time we all had a blast. At first we played card games in the bus. Some of us listened to our mp3. Even the teachers joined us when we were playing the card games. In this time, we got to know about more a lot of people. Once we reached Kuala Lumpur, we rested for a while in the hotel. I was in the room with Siddarth and Hamza. We went to watch a hockey match after a while. Our school hockey team were playing with a Malaysian team. I was amazed by how the Malaysian hockey players played. They all were superb! But still out Victorians gave them a good fight but in the end they were victorious.
The next day we left again and then we were heading to Penang. There we would be playing a total of 3 matches with the Penang Free School. The hotel in which we were staying was awesome! It was beside a beach. So we went to the beach to play. We used a plastic ball to play beach volleyball. We threw sand to each others body. One of my friends even put sand in my other friend's pants. The next day we had to be serious. We had a match with Penang Free School's team. When we reached their school, i was dumbfounded. The school was huge! We played a total of 3 games with them. Everyday we had 1 match. In total we won 2 matches and lost 1. So overall we were winners. We learnt a lot from them. The technique they used were very useful. we learnt a lot of things from them. We even made friends with them. Some of them added us on facebook. When we were not having any matches in Penang, we would be having fun. In the evenings the teachers will release us and we would go around for shopping or just relaxing.
After a few days in Penang, we went back to Kuala Lumpur. We didn't have matches there. So the whole time there we were slacking and having fun. sometimes we went to the gym(the gym was huge!). Once we had a game of water polo. It was cricket vs hockey. although we tried out best we could not beat hockey. Nevertheless we had fun! Normally we would have to turn off the lights and sleep at 11 p.m. everynight. But on the last night we were allowed to stay up as long as we wanted. So we all gathered at our captain, Yusof's room. There we had fun and ate McDonalds. We watched a soccer match and after that we told each other some ghost stories(none were scary). In the end I feel asleep at that room.
The whole trip has made me know a lot of people more and learn how Malaysians play cricket. This trip has also thaught me to not always be dependent on my parents. I have learnt to live alone. Hope I go for this kind of trips more!
